Niki Rellon

Niki Rellon is an author and inspirational speaker. We had a great chat the other night on a facebook phone call. As we laughed together about life on the road, I learned about Nikki’s list of mind blowing accomplishments. She is the first female to complete the entire Appalachian Trail on a prosthetic leg. In Niki’s memoir, Push On: My Walk to Recovery on the Appalachian Trail, she tells the story of her courage and resolve. Her journey will inspire you to never give in, even when it seems like you’re facing impossible odds. Niki hasn’t let her injury define her, and she continues to participate in numerous sports, always pushing the limits to what she can and will do. Niki is presently cycling across America on a bike tour where she is speaking to groups throughout the country. nikirellon.com

Serendipity On Wheels

I recently discovered your homepage and I congratulate you for such an awesome compilation of stories of women cycling all around the world!

First of all, I´d like to introduce myself. I am Marina Orin López, human rights lawyer and part of the amazing project “serendipity on wheels-(serendipiasobreruedas)”. We are three women on a journey by bicycle…over an 18 month period, we’re cycling around Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia . Our objectives are….

1)To learn, contribute and give voice to the women associations in South America in the economic, political, social and cultural spheres. We will generate networks between these women to be able to share processes and mechanisms, and learn from each other.

2)To bring the message of the use of bicycle as a tool for social change and empowering woman.

Imogen Pinckard

Imogen on cycle in Germany (1)
“I started cycling quite a few years ago and loved the ability to get away from the busy towns and just enjoy the countryside. For 2 consecutive  years I went on a fully loaded, fortnight camping holiday with groups of women. I just loved the freedom of it all but my adventurous spirit wanted more..I set off on a journey alone with no real plan other than to cycle and camp. This journey took me across 4 countries, 4000 miles and over 9 months . I loved the challenge and the experience. Since then I have completed a few more trips and am about to start another…The simplistic lifestyle and the need to explore is what drives me and I love it…” Imogen on cycling in her retirement

Blandine aka La Trottineuse

Kicking round the world on a push scooter and living the simple life on the Road since 2015!

The adventure is a humanist and athletic quest for the good life at a personal level, as well as an attempt at raising local and global awareness and solidarity.  It’s a soft and self-propelled activism, as I consider myself a sort of libertarian vagrant, trying to explore alternatives to the socio-economic dominant patterns and lifestyles.  I try to be a good ambassador of slow travel, and to share the wonders of the world explored in person, as well as the propulsion to kindness and altruism of the majority of people. –Blandine (website) (facebook)

Carla and Cezar

Carla (Medium)

“Quit my career, sold my stuff, rented out my apartment, researched ‘How to travel cheaply’- answer ‘The slower you go the cheaper it gets’…hmm bike-touring? “Interesting!” And the research-rabbit-hole began. Found WOW wall and the inspiration was OFF THE ROOF…“Settled than…” got a bike, packed down a sleeping bag, a tarp and my cat Cezar of course, and off we went. 4000km across 8 countries, from Sweden to south of Spain to escape the Scandinavian winter. Never felt more free when I was biking, not to mention all the people you meet and the inspiring reading from all the strong women on WOW wall – I humbly thank you all! AND thank you Loretta for the community! This was in 2015 and me and my cat Cezar has been traveling ever since. His territory extends through 14 countries, all the way from Europe to North-/Central-/& South America. Our mission is to inspire others that you CAN travel with your furry-four-legged-loved-once even if it’s on a bike.   And who knows, since I’m back in Sweden at the moment (to renew my passport) and the travel bug is sneaking up on me, maybe an Eastern Europe bike-tour?! Let me know if you’re heading that way 😉 KEEP ON PEDDLING LADIES”  Carla (Website) and Cezar (Instagram) VIDEO

Corran McGregor

Corran 2I’m Corran, from England. I have just been cycling now for about 2 weeks. I hope to cycle around the world – very slowly taking lots of time to volunteer and learn as much as possible about everything I can!

At the moment I left England 2 weeks ago, cycled down to Sevilla in Spain and am going back to England at the end of June for Glastonbury festival. I’ll spend summer cycling around the UK and leave again in September, for who knows where. I have read The BIG WOW Book and was comforted to know I’m not the only one! It’s so great to hear about everyone else taking on these great adventures.
Keep on rolling!

Alice Bentley

Alice Bentley - Copy (Large)

It is amazing how one’s confidence builds in time and – after reading your book – I suddenly noticed that I was in some ways part of the neat community that you have built. I am currently in Tbilisi with intentions of cycling to Australia in the indefinite future. I have a trusty steed, tightly packed panniers and no particular deadlines…Although I have been on the road for almost a year and a half, I feel – like may do – that it is made up of a series of different journeys. Cycling around the UK at the beginning was a world away from following some of the Camino routes in Spain; different again from autumn in France, winter in Germany and following archeological sites through Italy. Albania in the heat of early summer contrasted with Greece when it was heaving with August tourism. Cycling west Turkey alone was an entirely different experience… Alice Bentley

My name is Joanna Kaszewiak and I’m from Poland. In July 2016 I started a bike trip from Poland to Asia. My final desination is South-East Asia. I’m cycling on my own but was joined by a friend (a girl) for some time in the summer. Currently I’m in Turkey. I got inspired to cycle by another girl cycling solo, then I found WOW Wall and discovered there are so many great women out there. I am honoured to be pinned to your Wall 🙂  You can find more about my trip on my blog: www.onbyways.com or the facebook page: www.facebook.com/onbyways
